The strength in numbers

What aspects of your cultural heritage are you most proud of or interested in?

The aspects of my cultural heritage that I am most proud of is how we come together when something needs to be done, and we put our strength in our numbers and accomplish the goal that we are seeking out to accomplish. How we manage to put our differences aside and really focus on, the goal at hand to make whatever is the issue at hand to go away even if we all go our separate ways after that, we will stand together on that issue to make it a top priority to get it accomplished no matter how long it takes no matter how much it may Keep us from doing something else at that moment it is the most important thing that needs to be accomplished, and we will do any and everything to accomplish it until it is done for example, in Alabama when the man was being attacked everyone stopped what they were doing at that moment to go and Protect him. It didn’t matter what was happening around him or them. They stopped another example when they made Rosa parks get off the bus and was disrespectful to her. We stopped riding the bus and it took over a year, but we persisted to make it happen, so that they would give us equal rights to ride the bus freely and fairly another example is when we want it to be able to vote we stopped, allowing them to treat us any other kind of way, and we’ve been together to accomplish, making it a nationwide goal to not work with anything they have going on to make it happen every time when it’s something that we all want we will stand together to make it happen that is something that I love about my culture. We still are that way just in a different way now, and I appreciate that inner strength that we have to do that in order to accomplish the goal of having us matter things like that or what keeps us moving forward And all of us working together we still have a long way to go, but I do appreciate that about my culture, even though it takes an immense strength and something major to happen for us to do that the fact that we will do it I love it about us And I appreciate my culture for it

Soulfood, Mexican food, Thai food, Italian food, Seafood

What are your favorite types of foods?

I like soul food, because I like the way we put an immense amount of flavor and the way we cook our food as Black people from around the world. I enjoy Hispanic tradition of food. Whether is Americanized or farming, Mexican countries because it has different flavors and it is Different in the way they put their ingredients with it their history and their family secrets in it. I love Thai food because of the way they put fruit to enhance the flavor in their food to make it taste flavorful and have a spice element with a sweetness to it also And I love Italian food because of the authenticity in it with the way they do their noodles, their spaghetti‘s, and most of their pastas whether it’s from scratch or processed it always has a genuine flavor that you can’t only say it came from an Italian restaurant or an Italian country There are several foods that I like, but these are by far my favorites.

The ones who inspired my life the most growing up from stories

Name the professional athletes you respect the most and why.

The athletes that I drew to marveled by and loved to watch and hear about where Flo Jo Jackie Robinson Muhammad Ali the marvelous Marvin Hagler Joe Louis Jesse Owens you couldn’t get past these names in the different sports because they were the ones who made all the headlines they were so important and so good at what they did that no matter what they were involved in you knew that they were the best and you wanted to be the next one just like them I marveled at them and wanted to be just like them or even better I respected them never knew how hard it was for them until I got older thought they had the best lives not realizing what struggle it was to be them during those times so I have the upmost respect and love for them knowing that not only did they have the fight just to do what they loved but they also persevered made it happen so that someone like me could come forward and do it too so I have much respect for each and everyone of them still do to this day.

Soft and vulnerable

How would you describe yourself to someone who can’t see you?

Hello, I am LeSheena my name given me at birth by my father. My mother name is Corelle. I love that name. Both of them are elegant to me. My hair is a soft right now golden brown because I colored it but naturally, it’s a darker brown it comes down to the middle of my neck, even though I want it to come to the middle on my back or lower it always feels soft even though it looks like it’s course. My skin tone is like a milk chocolate that makes me proud. I was the outside child as a girl so that’s how I got certain little dark spots on my skin, but I just called those growing pains from jumping over fences, getting little blotches and doing crazy stuff as a kid I have one tattoo from a previous life that signifies the people I love and love to earrings holes in each ear I always wanted my ears pierced. My grandmother got my first hole in my ear, and then I got the second one in my ear and my earring last and final one in my nose. My eyes are a dark brown. I wish they were at Hazel or green. It’s just something about that color green is always been my favorite but they are dark brown. Luckily, my prayers were answered and my daughter came out with the color that I want it in her eyes, I am 58 approximately 243 pounds constantly dropping the weight working at it eating healthy trying to get it down as fast as possible after having so many surgeries it’s been a task but it’s not one that I’m willing to give up on One minute I go to the doctor and they say I’m 58 the next they say I’m five 7 1/2 bye I still stick with 58 my shoe size is supposed to be an 11 but sometimes I look up and can’t wear at 10 or 10 1/2 that I would like should have it at least my clothes stay consistent love to wear jeans and things like that but when push comes to shove, I always like loose fitting clothes that make me feel comfortable and let sell that is a little bit about me. What about you?

Yes I have more than one

Have you ever had surgery? What for?

More than 3

The first surgery I had was minor surgery as a child. I walked past a shard of glass from a large, broken picture window. I sliced my leg along my calf leg on the left side. I had to be rushed to the hospital. I also had hand surgery from letting a fire cracker blow up in my hand. Another minor surgery where stitches were needed. This is before the time of numbing the area so I had to get several stitches and the held down in order to stay still. My next surgery, was when I had been in labor for two days. My son was being very stubborn and not wanting to get in the right position so my labor was being prolong until the core began to wrap around his neck from all of his turning so I ended up having to have a C-section on an emergency my next surgery after that was a planned surgery my daughter then a third C-section after that, I had to have a thyroidectomy because my thyroid was not functioning correctly, and had created a mass, the size of a potato in my throat (a goiter) and another mass the size of a football in my chest, which was causing me to not be able to breathe correctly and have fainting spells often so I had to have open chest surgery and throat surgery. After that one, I had a total hysterectomy because of problems with my uterus and anemia and bleeding problems. My body has been through quite a bit, but I would say it has all been worth it.

God is life

How important is spirituality in your life?

Spirituality is very important to me because God is life.

God has made my life worthwhile and worth living things haven’t always been easy but with him by my side, I’ve been able to get through a lot and not go over the deep end. I’ve had some very traumatic events in my life. I didn’t know what was coming next or what to do, but my faith and my belief kept me going. There’s so much more I could say, but I want him with this God is everything..

My daughter’s birthday

Today my youngest child turned 23. I am very happy that she has lived a whole Nother year. I am very proud of her and glad that she has done such a great job at surviving this long. I pray that the next year will be a great adventure for her full of great blessings and gifts, and welcome to potential that she will see nothing but goodness and treasure coming her way she is a blessing to be on this earth, and I love her very much. She makes my life happy and want to be encouraged about. I’m hoping to see her more and contribute to her happiness like my mom contributed to mine happy birthday my beautiful daughter. I love you. Going to California

I’m going home in a few weeks I haven’t been back there in 5 years and I’m excited to go it’s one of those things where I know I’m going to be around people like me and I will have time to feel like myself and have people who love me for me and the excitement is overwhelming. While at the same time I feel a sadness that I’m leaving my stuff here with someone who doesn’t cherish the things that I cherish not knowing if the things that I love will be here when I get back because of his arrogance and I don’t care attitude even though I know I wouldn’t do that to him he would do that to me and I feel angry and scared all at the same time because these are the things that I didn’t want to lose that I’ve taken with me everywhere that I went. I am very happy to be going around people that celebrate each other where I won’t have to see another birthday alone this year and I will be able to visit friends who like having people over just so many things to do that make life worthwhile I can’t wait to go most of all to get away from here and be in a good happy environment for once without someone who is pessimistic about everything and never has a kind word to say about anyone especially women because he’s bitter and narcissistic on the Covert side due to lack of nurturing I no longer take the blame for that or even care life is to short to live unhappy with someone who is supposed to love me but puts me last at every turn I’m worth more than green that’s just my name anyway happy Juneteenth
